Information on Low Calorie Cocktails

By Monty Dayton

You work hard all week eating consciously, counting every calorie, avoiding sugary snacks that could potentially ruin your diet. But when Happy Hour rolls around, many of us don't take the time to think about how many calories are in our favorite drinks and find ourselves frustrated when it comes time to weigh in. Next time you head to the watering hole try one of these low calorie cocktails instead.

A White Wine Spritzer made with 4 ounces of wine and club soda has only 80 calories. White wine has not fat content and in moderation brings many health benefits. The antioxidants in white wine help to improve lung function, prevent ulcers and maintain a healthy heart. Of course consuming alcohol also impairs liver function so you don't wan to get too crazy.

Gin and diet tonic made with 2 ounces of gin with a splash of lime weighs in at a mere 103 calories, making it a featherweight among mixed drinks and the citrus taste is sure to be pleasing to your palette as well.

Vodka and sugar free Red Bull is great for the calorie conscious weighing in at a measly 74 calories. Of course mixing alcohol with caffeine and other stimulants like those found in energy drinks is risky. It's okay to enjoy one or two, but be careful not to overdo it.

If you're a whiskey man like myself then you'll be happy to know that the traditional whiskey sour won't add extra inches to your waistline. Surprisingly whiskey sours contain only 125 calories. Generally this cocktail is made using bourbon which has fewer calories than most hard liquor. To further reduce your caloric intake, skip the traditional bottled or powdered mixers and substitute the sugar with artificial sweeteners like Splenda.

Bloody Marys are a fan favorite with only 125 calories.

Though it is important to note that the average Bloody Mary packs nearly 500mg of sodium, nearly a quarter of the daily recommended allowance. Over do it and you may find yourself carrying around extra water weight. Too much sodium can aid dehydration and could be dangerous especially if you have other health issues such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

Protein Diet Bars

By Jonathan Octavius Bell

Losing weight in a world of confectionery chocolates and (somehow) 500 calories salads is not an easy course to take. But in the western worlds, where the belts are getting ever tighter there are ever more advanced ways at tackling the problem of being overweight.

Most people find a 'thing' which they acclaim to helping them lose weight, whether it's yoga, jogging, diets or even diet pills. Although it's definitely true that all of these activities all help to an extent in losing them person weight, it's more a culmination of different things that makes the significant difference.

In reality all the person needs to do is to lose more calories than he's gaining from his diet. Most people tend to go about this exactly the wrong way when losing weight and think that if their body is burning of on average 2000 calories a day; all they have to do is starve them for a week. This may seem like a good plan to start with, but as soon as the body starts to receive the 'feeling' of hunger, it goes into a biological power saving mode. This means that whereas before when it felt like it was well fed it was running on a thousand calories a day but now it runs on just 1000 calories.

This means that unless the person is starving themselves ridiculously (i.e. less than 1000 calories) they're unlikely to lose a significant amount of weight. So the best thing to do is maintain your metabolism (and hence keeping the body burning 2000 calories per day), while still losing a moderate but not too great an excess. Usually all it takes is a switch from a chocolate bar to foodstuffs such as protein diet bars. This is because that kind of soya-based product keeps the body 'feeling' fuller for longer, hence maintaining metabolism. It also doesn't give you a sugar rush followed by a sugar low which is what tends to happen with most snack foods.

Best weight loss diet program

By Gregory McGuire

First of all, this is not a lose weight quick program. You don't need a ton of weight loss supplements for this to work. In fact, you can do this every evening while watching your favorite TV shows, and still lose 80 pounds in a year!

This weight loss system is so simple that I'm convinced if you don't do this, then you really don't want to lose weight. Using this weight loss program, you're giving up next to nothing. If this is not the best weight loss diet you've ever seen, I'll be very surprised.

This is not a collection of quick weight loss tips, or me telling you how much fun fasting to lose weight is.

I'm not taking credit for inventing this system. I first learned of it from Craig Harper, a really smart guy over at Lifehack.org. Its beauty really is in its simplicity. There are no herbal weight loss pills you need to take, and nothing you need to buy.

First of all, think about calories, and consider your bodyweight. Multiply your bodyweight times ten, and that's how many calories you need to consume every day to maintain your present bodyweight.

Now, subtract 20 percent from that number. This is your new daily caloric intake. So, if your bodyweight is 200, instead of consuming 2000 calories a day, you'll now consume only 1800. Not a big jump. In fact, it's very doable for most people.

You want to eat half of those calories for breakfast. That's 900 calories! Your mid-morning meal would consist of 300 calories, and then 3 more meals of 200 calories each.

Doesn't this beat the heck out of fasting for weight loss? And it completely eliminates that hungry feeling you get from most commercial weight loss systems.

Now let's look at what you're doing.

Research has shown that a big breakfast aids in fat-burning. Since you're eating every 3 hours or so, you're never getting hungry, so that deprived feeling that most of us feel from dieting is not there. And now for the exercise part of our program.

Watch 3 hours of TV every night. I mean it. But, have a stepper close by. You know, the kind they use in step aerobics. When a commercial comes on, mute the TV, get on the stepper and step like crazy for a full 3 minutes, or until your show comes back on.

Here are the numbers: For every hour of TV, about 15 minutes of commercials are shown. This means you are working out 45 minutes every evening, without missing your favorite shows.

On average, a 200 pound person stepping on a 12-inch box for 45 minutes will burn just over 700 calories a day! Combine that with your now lowered caloric intake and you're losing over 80 pounds in a year.

I ask you again: Is this not the best weight loss system you've ever seen? It's cheap, relatively easy, and it's extremely doable.

Cooking With Textured Soy Protein To Give Variety Your Meatless Meals

By Dannette Russo

Meat is often mentioned as the most lost element from mealtime whenever a person begins a meatless diet plan. It might be challenging for most to stay to a meatless diet plan, and using a meat alternative is a good strategy to help someone stick to the diet but still manage to get pleasure from their favorite meals. There are various types of meat replacements, a lot of which are made out of textured soy proteins that come from soybeans.

When manufacturers get rid of the oil in the soybeans, there is a flour that is left over in which includes a great protein content but is reduced fat. Soy oil producers wanted to be able to use more of the bean, and they investigated techniques for transforming the low-fat soy flour into different food items. What they determined was that it could be shaped to appear like meat yet still sustain all the nutritional value in the total bean.

Textured soy products that are unflavored can be used in several dishes. They will perform wonderfully in dishes which are already very flavoured and spiced, since they quickly soak up the flavors of other foods. Types which contain meat-style flavors may also be ordered. They are 100% animal-product free, that enables you to create several classic faves when still following a vegetarian or vegan diet.

The earliest textured soy proteins in the marketplace had been granules. They are about the size and shape of granola and are utilized to generate foods that are bound together, like meatless loaf and burgers. Anything that ground beef can be used for would certainly be a great candidate with regard to this size of textured soy.

There are also greater sizes of textured soy that are similar to stew meat, or large enough to emulate a hen breast. These are typically useful for recipes that need bigger pieces of meat and may be skewered, stewed, or added to casseroles. Strips can also be found to provide a wonderful feel to stir frys and fajitas, enabling you to enjoy your preferred dishes.

You will find flavorful TVP products that will imitate many of your preferred meals, from sausage to hot wings. The range is endless. There are also textured soy concentrates, comparable to regular textured soy, which are reduced all-natural all kinds of sugar and thus more readily digested. Not too long ago, organic textured soy came out in the marketplace, and even though this is a little bit higher in fat when compared with additional textured soy, it is a fantastic option for anyone trying to find some thing created from organic beans.

Usually, these products come with an extensive shelf life. The flavoured kinds can last up to a year and a 1 / 2; those without flavoring can last for many years, even though it is best to keep to the use-by date on the package.

Textured soy proteins can be a sensible choice for individuals that tend to be weight conscious since these products are reduced fat and rich in fiber. They can also be utilised by individuals who need to watch their blood sugar levels and keep it in check by way of eating plan.

The Health Benefits Of Green Tea On Your Diet

By Barbara M Johnson

A diet can have great results if you follow it while consuming plenty of fluids, and exercising daily. Not only does the consumption of excess fluids help to hydrate you, but it also speeds up the fat burning process. And while there are plenty of tricks and fad diets, one thing that has been proven to work is green tea.

It has been proven that green tea reduces cholesterol, and helps to improve your body's immune system which is especially important when dieting. It also contains cancer-fighting agents and many antioxidants, but also a significant amount of vitamin E and C. The benefits that green tea has on your figure start to be visible after consuming one cup every day for a year. But you should always purchase unsweetened tea, when it comes to shopping for green tea, there are many products to choose from and not all are healthy for you. Some packaged tea is absolutely loaded with sugar and unhealthy artificial sweeteners and basically puts the drink in the same category as soda. And if you aren't already familiar sugar and calories result in weight gain and not the desired weight loss that you are trying to achieve.

So you are probably wondering by now, how much green tea should you drink. During the diet, the amount of green tea you consume will not influence its final outcome at all. There are no adverse effects of drinking green tea (some people even drink 20 cups a day), and therefore is recommended for all persons regardless of age and diet to drink it. And if you look at Chinese and Asian people that tend to drink tea with every meal and live very long lives, it becomes quite apparent that you really can't overdue this delicious drink.

Equally important is how you prepare your green tea, which has impact on its benefits. For example, we already went over how adding sugar or sweeteners to this drink can have negative effects on its effectiveness as a diet. For infusion, tea leaves should be more shredded. It takes less time to prepare whole tea leaves than shredded leaves. If you get your tea in a bag or pouch form, make sure it sinks in the water before putting the lid over it and wait about 5-7 minutes, then you can drink. It is recommended to leave the tea bag to float in your cup, because all the healthy ingredients and antioxidants will be released into the water.

On A Diet? Breakfast Recipes to the Rescue!

By Virginia Butters

Diet breakfast recipes can help you start your nutritional day off on the right foot. Instead of skipping breakfast and making up the difference in snacks the rest of the day, take the time to eat a healthy meal in the morning. With a little planning, it can also be one of the most delicious and energizing meals you eat all day.

Enjoying a healthy breakfast can give you an edge on controlling hunger later in the day. When you have breakfast, you replenish stores of glucose which diminish between the last meal of the day when we awake the following morning. These stores of glucose provide us with immediate access to energy, and making sure they're preserved leads to a refreshed feeling in the morning. Studies have shown that people who eat breakfast tend to be more physically active throughout the day than people who do not.

Skipping breakfast amounts to fasting, which can raise insulin levels and in turn increase fat storage, causing weight gain. This means that if you're trying to lose weight, skipping breakfast is one of the worst things you can do. If you skip breakfast, you're also more likely to overeat during later meals.

As part of a healthy diet, breakfast recipes should be balanced, containing carbohydrates, proteins, and fiber. This combination will provide you with long-lasting energy. When you're on a diet, breakfast recipes that feature healthy foods can help you stay on track all day. Dieticians have observed that people who eat nutritious breakfasts tend to make healthier food choices throughout the day, and have an easier time resisting high-fat, high-sugar snacks.

Here's a diet breakfast recipe guaranteed to awaken your tastebuds, refresh your body, and give you the energy boost you need to get you through the morning without succumbing to a trip to the vending machines. If you prepare it the night before, having a delicious, nutritious breakfast ready in the morning is as easy as opening the refrigerator door. This recipe makes enough for two servings.

Diet Breakfast Recipe: Good Morning Breakfast Blend

Some Essential Information About Crave Energy Drink

By Aaron Decker

Crave Energy Drink helps keep you energized and hydrated. It comes in convenient packets which you can take around with you. All you have to do is empty the contents in 16 ounces of water, in a bottle or glass. This nifty product comes from Vitamark, an international company which focuses on health and nutritional supplements.

It's especially beneficial to individuals who undergo regular fitness regiments, be it at home or at the gym. While working out, they sweat a lot in order to maintain the body's normal temperature. Sweating is also a means of flushing out toxins through the skin, as there are metabolic processes within you which yield by-products. It's important to replace the fluids in your body that you lose through sweating.

The best way to do so is by drinking lots and lots of water. Even before you get thirsty, you should make it a point to periodically drink water to ensure you maintain the right amounts of fluids within you. The great thing about this product is while hydrating you, it also energizes you. This means you get to execute your fitness regiments much better.

What makes it so effective is the right blend of ingredients it has. Each packet provides you with the right amounts of taurine, guarana, caffeine, kolanut and inositol. All these ingredients work together to provide you with energy which, according to Vitamark, can last for up to 4 to 6 hours. Likewise, the company stresses that none of the usual crashing feeling often associated with other similar drinks can be experienced.

The secret behind this is simple: it doesn't come loaded with sugar. Surprisingly, each pack contains less than 1 gram of sugar, equivalent to 9 calories. Individuals who do strict counting of their caloric intake can rejoice. They can keep themselves energized and hydrated while working out, without busting the weight they're trying to lose or maintain.

However, just because it contains very little sugar than many rivals doesn't mean it tastes bland. This product still has a refreshing and interesting taste, thanks to Vitamark's natural flavor blend. Also there's FOS, which is short for fructulooligisaccharides. Other than tasting sweet, it also provides health benefits as it's actually a form of fiber. There are no artificial flavorings or sweeteners around.

But this isn't only recommended for people who are working out at home or at the gym. It's in fact suitable for people in practically all walks of life who need that instant vigor. While the formulation is light, the effectiveness is kept intact. Other than not having that crashing effect, there are no headaches or jitteriness involved when taking the product.

You can take it with you in school to keep you alert throughout your classes. You can stash it in your carry-on to keep you energized during long flights. Because it comes in convenient packets, taking them with you is hassle-free. All you need is bottled water to pour it into, to get that instant invigoration and hydration you need. With Crave Energy Drink packets in your pocket or bag, you can work out or perform day-to-day tasks much more effectively.

Grocery Shopping - Tips For Buying Healthier Food

By Diane Drinkwater

What foods do you buy a lot of? Does your basket or trolley look like you're about to open a greengrocers or does it look like you're planning to open a biscuit shop?

It's time to take a long hard look at your grocery shopping and work out how you can make it healthier.

Generally buying less processed foods means you're eating better. The obviously high calorie foods like cake and chocolate are the first things you should look at. Can you buy them in portion sized packs? This makes it easier to have just a slice if you have slices of cake in individual portions. If you have to buy a whole cake then you'll be tempted to have a bigger slice and then maybe a second slice. Much easier to resist temptation when you're buying ready packaged portions. Bear in mind that these are usually more expensive and the extra packaging isn't good for the environment. Some people buy frozen puddings and treats that can be rationed out easier as you have to wait for a defrost time before eating them.

Buying more fruit and vegetables doesn't mean you have to spend a huge amount. Some UK supermarkets discount vegetables and fruit every week. There should always be some basics available at low prices. Onions, potatoes and carrots are good to look at for starters. Add celery to onions and carrot as a base for most stews and sauces and you'll start to be eating healthier straight away. Slicing celery thinly means it'll dissolve into the sauce as its cooking and no one will know it's there! Sneaky cooks also grate carrot very finely and add it to mince dishes to stretch out the meat. It's also healthier as it's very low in calories and fat compared to mince.

Buying Quorn or other meat substitutes is a healthier option than buying meats. They even do some processed type foods in these ranges making healthy food easier than ever. Frozen pieces of chicken Quorn are great for using in any recipes you'd use chicken in.

Finding healthy snacks in the supermarket isn't such a huge chore. Look for packs of dried fruit and nut mixes. These can be calorific if you eat a lot of them, so find a way of restricting portion sizes by decanting it into small tubs for people to eat.

Buying seasonal vegetables and fruit is a way of varying what you eat and encouraging you to try new things. They're also cheaper when they're in season so if you decide you don't like them then you've not wasted as much money! Read up on cooking new things - sometimes we overcook vegetables and this means they lose some of the vitamins from them.

Look for low-fat products in the cheese and butter aisles too. Low-fat options are varied now and you'll find everything from zero fat cottage cheese to hard cheeses in low fat varieties.

Read calorie information on packets - don't rush the shopping. Make sure you compare low calorie versions with full fat options to ensure you know how many calories you're saving. Sometimes the difference is very low and you might decide it's healthier and cheaper to have a smaller portion of the higher calorie foodstuff. If you can manage the willpower aspect then you'll find you can eat healthier.

Plan meals too - so you have plenty of vegetables included in your diet. Create salads for lunches including a packed lunch for work! Get some nice containers for taking food to work in so you can take a dressing separately and pour it on when you're ready to eat.

Plan healthy snacks for everyone in your family: Have a fruit bowl that looks tempting and you'll find people want to eat from it. Look at frozen fruit bags for making smoothies out of. These are a great way of encouraging people to eat more fruit. A delicious smoothie made from frozen bananas is a real treat! Buy bags of bananas and as they ripen if they don't get eaten, then chop them up and put them in bags in the freezer. This makes them easier to blend! Just add milk and whizz up!

Some people recommend not shopping on an empty stomach. Whether being hungry means you'll buy more food that's bad for you is not sure, but being hungry might make you grumpy, or tired, or just rush the shopping and it should be done carefully so you don't miss out anything on your healthy eating list!

Nutritional Info In Mushroom Risotto

By Eddie Ly

I was enjoying one of my favorite mushroom risotto dishes the previous day, which was the gourmet mushroom risotto dish, and came to the conclusion that this is perhaps one of my favorite dishes of all time. Personally I love the mushroom risotto dish for many reasons and others would differently think the same. With all the mushroom risotto I have been consuming recently I had to figure out what I was putting into my body, so I decided to do some research at my local library. These are most of the nutritional information I found on this delicious dish. First of all, mushroom risotto is a very healthy dish, that give you all of your daily body needs such as, protein, fibre, vitamins and more.

These are all essential to our diet, not only does it provide a sufficient amount of protein, which helps body growth and development, the fibres and vitamins help your bowel movements as well. Some might argue this but the protein in this dish is a lot healthier than protein which we get from meat or animals because this is vegetable protein not meat protein.

The difference is that our body was almost never meant to eat meat, we might be refereed to as omnivores but we are a lot closer to the herbivores type of diet. So when we obtain protein from the mushrooms it is a lot healthier and easily digestible to make absorbed nutritionists a lot easier for your body. I also found that depending on what kind of mushroom and how the mushroom risotto is cooked can determine the different vitamins and minerals it contains, all of which is very nutritious.

For example, Chinese black mushrooms are loaded with protein as well as containing vitamins B2 and vitamins B12. This is unique to its kinds as well as other mushrooms which provide you with their own unique vitamins and minerals. Also, a typical serving of the mushroom risotto dish provides all of your daily needs for healthy fats, carbohydrates, iron and calcium. Overall, I think the mushroom risotto dish is especially good for kids and teenagers because it helps them with their body development, and as advertised calcium is good for the bones, so this is especially true for growing individuals.

This dish can also be very helpful for elderly people, the dish packs extra fibre and calcium which will help their bowel movements and the extra calcium can definitely help with their bones, because elderly people lose bone density as they grow older. If you are an adult eating this dish it is also a good thing, it definitely promotes a healthier lifestyle. This dish is delicious, nutritious, healthy, what is there not to love?

A Quick Look At African Mango

By Lindsey Jenkins

With the medical industries in such disarray, it is no wonder that many people have turned to alternative health methods to regain control of their health. Ironically, in the United States the use of supplementation and whole food diets is a relatively "alternative" idea, but it has been a common practice in modern Asian societies with deep ancient roots. Because of the popularity of these products, these days, more and more research and development has gone into finding the best possible plant-based compounds. One of the most recent discoveries is simply known as African Mango (despite having no relation to the actual mango species of the tropics).

Indeed, the African Mango that is used as a supplement bears no relation to the mango fruit, despite also being called the Wild Mango and the Bush Mango. In reality, the scientific name for the plant is Irvingia Gabonensis, which is often shortened to the much more manageable IGOB131. The active compound in IGOB131 is found only in the seeds of this plant, and not the fruit or leaves; a plant which does actually grow in Africa: in the tropical jungles of Cameroon, to be exact.

What scientists have discovered is that the product that is now known as African Mango seems to have a profound effect on weight loss efforts. To better understand this, a recent 10-week, double blind study, split 102 overweight subjects into equal test and control groups. People in the test group were administered IGOB131 capsules of 150mg twice a day before meals; the control group, of course, was administered placebos. At the end of the 10 weeks, scientists found that test subjects lost an average of 28 pounds, 6.7 inches from their waistline, and 18.4% body fat. While this probably sounds impressive on its own, test subjects also saw a 26% reduction in their total cholesterol, a 27% reduction in LDL cholesterol, a fasting blood glucose level reduction of 32%, and a serum chemistry C-reactive protein level reduction of more than 50%.

C-reactive protein may be a major factor in the way that African Mango seems to work. The presence of C-reactive protein, or CRP, could signify something that is known as Leptin resistance. This is important because Leptin is a hormone in the body that tells the brain to turn off the hunger craving (because you have just eaten food, for example). Unfortunately, over time it seems that it can be common to develop a resistance to the signal that Leptin sends to the brain, which can cause overeating. Because of the profound effect that IGOB131 has on Leptin, then, it seems that the compound could definitely benefit people who want to lose weight.

You should also know that Leptin, as a hormone, binds with the hypothalamus to control involuntary functions like hunger. It also, however, helps to instruct the body to use fat that has been stored as an energy source. That means that when your body is sensitive to Leptin, you are more likely to burn more fat.

Get Over Your Cravings for Cheese Effectively

By Elijah D Wayne

A lot of people will agree that cheese is one of the foods that they cannot easily choose to stay away from. You will find great use for the dairy product either as an ingredient for different dishes and desserts, to top off pastas, to use with bread, and even eat it on its own.

For sure, a lot of people will really find it hard to stay away from "cheese less" eating but if you will just weigh your options evenly, you might realize the importance of breaking the cheese eating habit. Cheese is a highly concentrated source of calories and you should take into consideration the idea that the amount of cheese you use for your favorite foods may be the reason why your health is not in its best shape.

Cheese can really result to unhealthy eating habits and for sure, if you are having a hard time losing that unwanted weight, part of the blame goes to the cheese that you overloaded your body with. It is not a healthy option not to mention that it is unethical since cattle are abused and undergo prolonged suffering for extracting the dairy product they produce and what's even worse is the fact that after all the cattle's pain and sufferings, death awaits in the end because they will be slaughtered for their meat. Cheese is also environmentally hazardous because of the methane which is one of the contributors of global warming that is produced when raising cattle.

Eating cheese may really offer so much satisfaction for your appetite but you cannot stay away from the fact that it can also become the reason why some disadvantages will be encountered and trimming down cheese consumption little by little until you totally get rid of it will surely be ideal for positive changes to be started. To help in making the idea possible, it will really help if you can find the best substitute for cheese as a source of calcium so here is the list of the ingredients that can easily supply your body with the nutrients that you usually get from cheese.

• Tempeh
• Almonds
• Edamame
• Collared Greens
• Mustard Greens
• Chinese Cabbage
• Okra
• Broccoli

There are dairy substitutes that can easily make the idea of healthy diet simpler and for the people who cannot easily depart from the tasty goodness from cheese, you can easily look for shops that offer vegan meat substitutes and for sure, you will never fail to find a healthier option that offers the flavorful taste of cheese at the same time.

Weight Loss Tips

We live in a nation of growing obesity. Statistics indicate that obesity has doubled since 1980. A 2008 report showed that 1.5 billion adults were clinically obese and over 45 million children were obese. There are complications connected to being obese. Approximately 3 million people die yearly from disease brought on or made worse from obesity. These diseases include diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

Practice Prevention: There are many things you can do to control your weight and prevent obesity. It is fundamentally a shift in how you think. You must realize that you have a great deal of power over your own health. Consider the fact that you in part, can control how you age and how you can maintain good health throughout your lifetime. Of course disease can occur to any of us. However you can greatly reduce your risks with a healthy lifestyle.

Physical Activity: Exercise is a very important part of any healthy lifestyle. Exercise will strengthen your body and you will begin to build muscle. Your metabolism will increase because muscle has a higher metabolic rate than fat. So add some strength training routines to your exercise program. You can incorporate 2-3 strength training routines weekly. Only 15-20 sessions can have a huge impact on your physical strength and health. You will begin burning fat and therefore lose weight.

Good Fats versus Bad Fats: There are healthy fats to add to your diet. These include omega fatty acids such as those found in fresh fish. Salmon is has one of the highest levels of good omega fatty acids. 2-3 servings weekly could be very healthy and helpful to your weight loss. Research has shown that monounsatured fats are very effective for weight loss. A good food to add to your diet is avocados. Although not the lowest in calories, avocadoes are extremely nutritious and high in monosaturated fats. Try adding some avocado to a salad or make a guacamole dip to eat with veggie sticks such as celery and carrots. Other healthy food choices for good fats include grass fed beef and extra virgin olive oil. Olive oil has numerous health benefits. It has been shown to increase the fat burning response in the body as well as lower inflammation levels.

Sugar: Sugar is something you definitely want to eliminate from your diet, particularly if you are trying to lose weight. When you consume too much sugar, this signals your body to use insulin to begin burning it off. As a result, your insulin will spike. Whatever isn't used will be converted by your body into fat. Try to limit your sugar intake to no more than 10 percent of your daily calorie intake. So for example if you consume 1500 calories daily, sugar should comprise only 150 of those calories. Always be on the lookout for hidden sources of sugar such as those found in soda and juices.

A Healthy Breakfast: When you are sleeping your metabolism goes into more of a resting state. This is referred to as "catabolism". In order to turn it on as efficiently as possible, you need to eat a good breakfast. Having a protein with breakfast is helpful along with whole grains. A good breakfast choice might be a veggie omelet with whole wheat bread. Or some oatmeal topped with fresh fruit and a protein bar. And remember to start the day with drinking some fresh pure water to hydrate your body.

Eating Styles: Eating smaller "mini meals" is a very effective way to help you lose weight. Eating your meals at consistent times is helpful. Eating every three hours during the day is a good way to keep your body consistently fueled with energy. This will also keep you from overeating. Many people overeat because they starve themselves all day and then they binge on a huge dinner. The whole key to keeping weight off is to keep your metabolic rate as high as you can. Skipping meals actually lowers your metabolism.

Reward System: Everyone once in a while you really need to just reward yourself. If you are too regimented in your eating habits and never allow yourself a little indulgence now and then, one of two things will happen. Either you will end up binging or you will quit and begin to go back to your old habits. It is well known that when you are too restrictive in your diet you will usually binge within a month and potentially gain even more weight.

Supportive Relationships: Being with like minded people who take care of themselves will really help you. If you are with peers who are overweight and have no motivation to get in shape you will probably do the same. We tend to mirror those we associate with. So if this is your situation, why not look to broaden your horizons and meet new and interesting people. You could join a gym, or a local meet up group that does walking, hiking, swimming, dance, etc. This will change your outlook on yourself. Before you know it, you will incorporate new and healthy habits into your own life and be on your way to successful weight loss.

Eliminate Junk Foods: Go through your kitchen and eliminate all of the unhealthy junk foods and processed foods you have around. You will benefit yourself and your family by doing so. If you have easy access to junk foods, the odds are you will eat it. Anytime you feel rushed or upset about something you will reach out to these types of foods. Focus instead on filling your pantry with healthy, wholesome foods. Keep snacks such as fresh fruit and no sugar yogurts in your home.

Water: Water is very important to your good health. You need to stay hydrated. If it is hard for you to drink water, add fresh lemon or lime. Try drinking 4 to 6 glasses per day of water. Drinking water is helpful to weight loss because it keeps you feeling full. An easy way to get your water intake is to bring a few bottles with you to work to have readily available to you. This will lessen the temptation to consume soda or fruit juices that are high in calories and filled with sugar. Remember, whenever beginning any dietary or lifestyle changes, always consult with a medical professional, particularly if you are taking prescription drugs or suffer from any disease or ailment.
