1) Get protein
One myth that exists about being a vegetarian is that you don't get a lot of protein. Actually, there are ways that you can get your protein even if you don't eat meat. Meat eaters consume a lot more protein than they need on a daily basis, so the protein intake amount that you need is lower than you actually think.
You can vary your diet and get the protein that you need. All you have to do is eat a lot of grains, nuts, beans, and vegetables and you will be fine. You can even eat soy protein and you'll be in good shape. Here's another tip.
2) Avoid junk food
This is one of the hardest things to do as a vegetarian, but is very important if you want to keep on track with your vegetarian goals. There are a lot of people who giving to their urges to eat junk food and this just ruins the vegetarian plan that they had in motion. Avoid junk food like the plague. Not only does it contain a lot of calories and fats, but too much of it is unhealthy for you. And more likely than not, you're eating too much junk food as it is. Here's another tip.
3) Set goals
When you tie in your goals that are associated with your vegetarian plan, you improve your chances of success. Set a weight loss goal for example. Very few vegetarians are obese, and if you're trying to lose weight, taking up a vegetarian plan is a smart thing to do. Losing weight in and of itself is a tough thing to do, but if you can remain diligent in your efforts, you can have success with it.
All of these tips for becoming a vegetarian will work for you if you take them to heart. Don't get caught up in the hype that becoming a vegetarian is a hard thing to do. You don't have to give up on all of your pleasures in order to become a vegetarian. You just have to set goals, and follow through on them.
