You can know a lot about someone's body just by observing their diet. The problem with us humans is that we can eat pretty much everything so knowing what to eat and most importantly when to eat is a huge deal for some of us.
What Should You Eat?
It is very simple, eat healthy! First step to doing that is know how much you need to eat everyday. This includes calorie number and amount of different food groups; carbs, fat, protein, vitamins, fibers, etc.
Second step is to start studying the food you are usually eating. You will be shocked when you see how 'off' your diet is. Once you know this and you know what you need you can start eating healthy.
How Should You Eat?
There are two rules: timing and quantities. You need to eat frequent small meals. This will ensure good energy levels throughout the day and increased satiety levels.
Breakfast:
I will focus on breakfast here because it is the most important meal of the day and I will explain why. Your breakfast is your foundation for the whole day; so just like anything else, you start with a bad foundation, the structure will not be that great.
Let us say that you have a sugar and fat rich breakfast for example instead of something healthier. This will tell your body to start storing fat automatically and you will soon find that you are "crashing" before it is even lunchtime. So this results in high calorie intake, low energy levels, and overeating.
If we go to the other extreme and skip breakfast, let us see what happens. It really is not a coincidence that people who skip breakfast end up smoking and drinking more than average people. Skipping breakfast will result in low energy levels throughout the whole day and you will find yourself drinking more energy drinks and getting into very unhealthy habits to get you through the day.
So having a healthy good breakfast meal will give you more satiety and better energy levels and as a result adjusts the rest of the day's meals.
What's a good Breakfast?
A good breakfast consists of a healthy nutritional meal that is not loaded with calories.
Cereal, oatmeal, and many fruits are all great breakfasts because they are low in calories, high in nutrients, vitamins, and complex carbohydrates. One thing you need to pay close attention to is that not all the cereals are good cereals. Many are loaded with sugars and are in fact some of the worst breakfasts you can have. So choose wisely.
Eggs are pretty good as well as they are an excellent source of protein as long as you avoid eating the yolks.
Other breakfast sandwiches are not too bad either; as long as you try to make them healthy, for example, replace white bread with whole grain, and ham with turkey. The point here is to lower your unnecessary calorie intake as much as possible.
So go out and make the best healthiest breakfast tomorrow morning and feel great the rest of day!
