It is the question everybody is asking. Health and appearance have become an integral part of our lives today. Maintaining a desired weight is necessary. When you are fit and healthy you look good as well as feel good. For maintaining desired weight or to lose some extra weight a particular diet is required. Following diet can be very difficult for those who have been in the habit of eating and feeling full all the time. But this can be helped with the understanding of food we need to eat to feel satiated and intake fewer calories at the same time. Here is a quick list of foods we need to eat.
• Fruits- Eating different types of fruits can keep us feeling full and reduce the urge to eat for a long time. They provide the body with vitamins, minerals, sugar and water at the same time. All citrus fruits, apples, blueberries, grapes, strawberries are very filling fruits.
• Vegetables- It has been seen that by adding air and water to the food, the feeling of fullness can be achieved. One of the best ways of achieving that is to eat vegetables as they are natural sources of water and fiber. Beans, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, squashes, spinach are some good examples of low calorie vegetables.
• Whole grains- For people who cannot let go of their carbs and do not feel satiated till they intake carbs in some form, whole grains are better than eating white flour products. Whole grains have high fiber content, fiber which is also found in abundance in fruits and vegetables, digests slowly and keeps us feeling full for a longer period of time. Whole grains like oatmeal, brown rice, barley, maize, rye are better than white flour and the body receives fewer calories by their intake.
• Proteins- Proteins are very good for overall development of the body, they yield fewer calories to the body and help in building muscles which are called fat burning factories, once we add some muscles to our body they keep burning fat even when we are not working out, thus adding proteins like fish, white meat, legumes and pulses to the diet is necessary. Eating eggs is also considered a very good way of losing weight.
• Good fat- The body needs the good fat to keep feeling full as well as healthy, adding monounsaturated fats to the body in the form of nuts, only a handful a day can keep the hunger pangs away for a long time.
• Processed food- Many companies are trying to bring processed food to the market which will have fibers, proteins, water and air added to the food we already like to eat with fewer calories.
• Beverages- Adding the right kind of beverage to our daily routine can help lose weight feel full and consume lesser calories, like green tea, black coffee.
Eating the right kind of food in moderation and drinking a lot of water coupled with exercising can help anybody to live a healthy and better life.
