With two speeds available from the powerful 700 W motor, the big Boss juicer is effective at producing high quality juice from almost any fruit or vegetable. The juice is segregated from the pulp which is sent to a big pulp basket at the rear of the juicer, and 4 suction feet make sure that the machine won't move all over the counter top. Seeing as the Big Boss juicer weighs only 9 pounds, these suction cups are a genuinely good idea that other manufacturers would be wise to copy.
Among the engaging features of the Big Boss Juicer is that it creates juice which is almost pulp free, and all the juice goes in the glass. In common with most centrifugal juicers, the Big Boss has no simple way of controlling juice thickness so you have got to add some additional liquid to the juice and mix it again if you want a different thickness.
In daily use we found the Big Boss Juicer to be simple to use and safe to operate, but you need to wash it right after using it so as to get it clean. It takes some practice to remove the wheel and the filter when the juicer is new, but you can do it by pulling the black pulp ramp upwards. In every other respect, this juice extractor is quick and straightforward to disassemble for washing or maintenance.
All the components of the Big Boss juicer are dishwasher safe, but in daily use hand washing in warm soapy water followed by a rinse works best for us. It may be worth noting that the cutter might be a little bit tricky to clean, as pulp is quite hard to get rid of, especially if it is allowed to dry. We've had no problems using a brush supplied for cleaning the filter and cutting wheel, but if you do find it inadequate try a scouring pad or even a dish brush instead. I would suggest that you wear gloves when handling any of the inner components because the blades are very sharp.
In daily use the Big Boss Juicer is elegant and attractive to look at. As the spout is approximately 6 inches over the counter it is simple to fit a good sized tumbler underneath. It is a good idea to have a variety of spare tumblers ready as you may find the centrifugal force causes juice to drip from the spout even after the machine has stopped. When this happens it is helpful to have another few tumblers ready to collect it in, and a good idea to place some kitchen towel under the spout to collect the inevitable drips that will be produced.
As most of the parts are made of plastic we speculate about the long term durability of the Big Boss Juicer. Dishwashers are notoriously unfriendly to plastic parts, so to extend the lifespan it might be best to hand wash them. The guarantee is for twelve months, and although we've had no troubles with ours some other customers have outlined the overall lack of customer service available from the manufacturers if things do go wrong. The Big Boss juicer is exactly that - not a blender - so don't attempt to use it as one for the best results!
