Most people know that fast food isn't the best type of food to be eating regardless of your weight. If you are overweight or obese and trying to cut back, many times you can eat way too many calories when eating fast food. Find out what you can do to help you cut calories when you do go out to eat fast food so that you don't ruin your weight loss plans.

When you eat fast food, skip the soft drinks. These are empty calories that you should avoid consuming. They don't do you any good nutritionally and will make the meal way too many calories to manage when trying to lose weight. If you don't have any good options, just stick with water as it is best.

Try to change out side items like french fries for something that is better for you. At some fast food places, eating another healthier sandwich is better for you than eating french fries that are very high in fats and calories.

If you use dressings, always go for low far and low calories dressings. Don't be surprised that most of the calories in your salad are from the dressings. Use little of these and just enjoy the natural taste of the food if going with salad.

Don't ever get a burger with mayo on it. This alone adds more calories than any other topping. Most don't notice the difference if you don't have it on there at all. Cutting this can reduce the calories. Ketchup and mustard will provide taste without all the calories.

Lean chicken is always a good choice over breaded or fried chicken. Look for the baked options when it comes to any meat as this will be better for you.

Before you order something, try to find the calories in it from the nutritional information. Sometimes smaller items are loaded with more calories. This helps you know what to cut that might not be obvious to you.
